Feliway

Feliway® is a synthetic copy of the feline facial pheromone, used by cats to mark their territory as safe and secure. The development of Feliway®created a new field in veterinary medicine: Pheromonatherapy.

Feliway is available in 2 forms: as a spray and an electric diffuser. We have several of the diffusers around our house and keep the spray handy for spot treatments.

Littermaid Automatic Litter Box

For a single cat household all that is required is to empty/change the plastic litter receptacle every day or two. Since we have a multi-cat household, we use three of these which we placed on top of a special cabinet that I built. The cabinet has room inside for a standard kitchen sized trash can which we line with a plastic trash bag. There is an opening in the top of the cabinet below where the plastic receptacle would go. the used litter is then raked into the hole and it falls into the plastic bag below. This keeps several days or more worth of litter and its odor sealed inside the cabinet. when we are ready we just remover the standard kitchen trash bag and then replace it with a fresh one. A  similar product is commercially available from www.litterworks.com and is pictured below. I will post pictures of the cabinet that I built in the future so that any "do it yourselfers" can get ideas from them.

PetZyme Stain & Odor Remover

This is available at Petsmart and is great for cleaning up and treating areas where cat urine is causing odor. It is not cheap but it works well! We have found another product that we started using and like even better. It is called TrioPlus and is available at http://www.winsol.com/trio.html. It has to be ordered via the phone or internet, but it seems to be a great product for cleaning up all kinds of biological messes.

We have used other brands that our cats enjoyed just as well.

Bergan TurboScratcher Cat Toy and Refill Scratcher

This is REALLY a big hit with our kitties! Figaro is the champion at this game which he plays with alone and also with a competitor. It works best on a floor that is not to slippery.

TLC Cat-N-Mouse Cat Toy 

This one is played similar to the one above but was enjoyed by the kittens.

Any kind of slinky thingy attached to a stick!

This makes for great fun and interaction between you and your kitties!
