“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”

(Mahatma Gandhi)

Shortly after we were married and moved into our new home, Sonia decided that Scooter needed someone to keep him company while we were not home. So she went to the local animal shelter and began looking over all of the kitties that were available for adoption. As she walked through the shelter looking at the many animals available, she was having a difficult time choosing one as a companion for Scooter. Then Sonia noticed this grey and white kitty trying hard to get her attention, and reaching through the cage trying to touch her. In the end, it was Sonia that was chosen by the kitty who she named Sassy.

Sonia had the 1 1/2 year old spayed and vaccinated and brought her home a few days later. Scooter was less than ecstatic initially, and though he did not show it, he eventually grew to love Sassy. Sassy is by far the sweetest most gentle cat I have ever known. She will not even bite or use her teeth when playing, and has never even displayed any sign of anger even when the vet was performing less then enjoyable procedures on her. She is truly one of a kind

Sassy will sleep with you all night and nap with you all day if you feel inclined to do so. Where ever you are in the house is where Sassy will be as well. She loves our company and is shy around strangers initially, but warms up once she gets to know you. Sassy is now 15 years old.

"Saving one animal won't change the world, but it will change the world for that animal."
